STAP 1: Put the loop around your finger.
STAP 2: Tighten the loop (on the spot where the ring should be on your finger) to the size
where the ring would fit well. Note that the loop can still be slid over your knuckle, just like a
normal ring would do.
STAP 3: Read your size.

Every neck is different, so every size is different. This overview gives you an idea of how on average the necklace stretches from the neck. Keep in mind that with a narrow neck the length is logically longer and with a wide neck the length is subsequently shorter.
